2024 long wheelbase Citroen C3 spotted
The new generation Citroen C3 prototype was recently spotted for the first time undergoing winter testing in north Sweden. Despite a full body camouflage, the stretched wheelbase and raised ride height can be seen in the spy photographs. Meanwhile, the French carmaker is expected to reveal the all-new C3 sometime in early 2024.
New long wheelbase Citroen C3: Design and Dimensions
As seen in the spy photos, the new C3 is likely to be a long-wheelbase version. While the on-sale C3 measures 3,981mm in length, the upcoming model is rumoured to be as long as Volkswagen Taigun or Skoda Kushaq when it comes to length. Notably, the Kushaq is 4,225mm long, while the Taigun measures 4,221mm.
Regarding the exterior, the C3 is expected to bear a new design language but could retain Citroen's styling cues. The crossover SUV may come with a split LED headlight setup, chunky cladding, flap-type door handles, 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels, and LED taillights.
New long wheelbase Citroen C3: Interior
The most significant change in the upcoming C3 is likely to be in the form of additional space due to the stretched wheelbase. With this, Citroen would be able to accommodate a third row in the rear to make the C3 a seven-seat car. In fact, the brand has already confirmed that it is developing a seven-seat version of the C3 for emerging automotive markets.
Further, the interior is expected to receive a fresh look and its design could draw inspiration from Citroen's latest C4. Other features may include a digital instrument cluster, sizable touchscreen infotainment system, fast charging USB Type-C or Type-A ports, wireless charging pad, electric sunroof, engine start/stop switch, and multifunction steering wheel, among others.
New long wheelbase Citroen C3: Powertrain
Since the model is still under development, the details about the powertrain are unavailable at the moment. However, it is expected to get a turbocharged petrol engine paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. This petrol motor is believed to have mild hybrid functionality. Citroen might also bring a plug-in hybrid version of the new C3 for the European market.
